In South Africa, and the Southern African region at large, the Renewable energy industry has been in existence for about ten years (since 2011) and was born out of a shortage of power which resulted as an impact of the economic boom recorded in the country between the period 2005 and 2007 period. The government of the time responded by introducing the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) and the renewable energy industry as we know it today was born. The industry has since contributed close to 7,000 MW of power through solar, wind and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants built since then.
The RMS team recognised the power sector as a critical one, if economic and socio- economic development, at many levels, is to take a meaningful place in the region. The team decided to join the sector in a bid to work with many others in introducing sustainable forms of affordable power that have little to no impact on the environment. The very mission of RMS became entrenched in this vision: to unlock the region’s potential by supplying the much needed renewable power. That vision of both economic and socio economic empowerment in the region fueled the establishment of RMS some years ago.
Our mission is to provide an answer to the worsening power crisis in the region and the need to introduce more sus-tainable sources of power, that have little if any, impact on the environment. Our vision is to become a renewable energy power and services provider in the Sub-Saharan Africa region.
We ensure long term viability through:
